I tried to install the new version of XL Toolbox, but things did not go well. Although I installed 7.2.10 and there is no mention of previous versions in Excel, this is the error I get:

That is really odd. It says version 7.2.6 in the error message. Are you positive that you never had a previous version of the Toolbox on your system?

I guess your best bet will be to uninstall the Toolbox. Please let me know if that works or not. Furthermore, it would be relevant to know if any strange messages appear during installation.

I did have 7.2.6 and I wanted to upgrade.
I tried to upgrade directly to 7.2.10, I tried to uninstall and then install 7.2.10, I even tried to upgrade first to 7.2.7. In the latter case 7.2.7 also failed with the same message. I reinstalled 7.2.6 and it works fine.
It is very strange indeed!

Ok, so something happened between 7.2.6 and 7.2.7 that breaks the installation process for you. I’ll need to investigate.

More strange news…
This morning I start Excel and I get an upgrade message from XL toolbox. I answer “Yes” to the upgrade and I close Excel. When I restart Excel it says I have 7.2.10 installed, while 7.2.6 is still listed as a COM add-on!

Well I checked the code differences between 7.2.6 and 7.2.7, and there is absolutely nothing that could explain different behavior during installation that could cause the error message.

It’s reassuring that you see 7.2.10. Can’t explain why the COM dialog shows 7.2.6. But if the add-in itself reports 7.2.10, it’s 7.2.10.
