I have exported some graphs as 800dpi transparent TIFF files. Whilst they look OK i am puzzled why they only are 500kB approx each whereas the Export dialog box indicated that the file size would be about 15MB. Am I missing something here? Help would be appreciated.
Sorry about the delayed response. The Toolbox indicates the uncompressed in-memory size. The TIFF file is compressed. Depending on the graphs and settings (specifically, b/w vs. grayscale vs. color), I am not surprised that the file on disk is much smaller than in memory.
You could use an image viewer tool to investigate the file. My favorite is IrfanView, but of course there are lots of other tools as well. In IrfanView, once the file is opened, locate the “Image Information” command to see the details.
