Hi.
I am working in a large program, where I will need Excel as a major tool.
I miss any usefull add on, to improve things that are tedious in Excel, like turning around a string or finding the last occurance of a text in another on, or replacing all instances.
At the same time, I work on a startup, where we will use Excel as basis for a bigger set of functionalities. I thus look for an open source Excel plugin, and one with a living community/developers.
My only question is, is XL Toolbox Ready to be deployed in Windows 365 Environment?
I will anyhow propose them to install it, so I will have an answer on my own as well.
Regards, Philipp
frankly, I don’t know. However, unfortunately, XL Toolbox is not really lively any more. I have been using R for my data analysis and visualization work for the last couple of years. As a consequence, the XL Toolbox add-in has not really seen any love from me for a long time. I do keep it installed in my Windows virtual box and use it occasionally, but re: Windows 365 I guess you will have to just try it.
This add-in is open-source, so please feel free to develop your own stuff on top of it. Given how ancient it is however (old .NET model), you might be better off to just start from scratch…?
Hi Daniel
Thanks for your reply. We will have a look. What we want to do is emulate the behaviour of an object repository in an Excel sheet with tables (what you get after “format as table”), and index/match formulas.
The VBA stuff shall just be a static piece of code to do maintenance and cleanup.
So the Excels are sent in banks/insurances without vba, then some VBA is sent after in emails, and then it is used, and never sent out again.
Hey there,
XL Toolbox is a good choice for improving Excel, and it has a helpful community. It should work with Windows 365, but it’s a good idea to check their site for any updates. Suggesting to install it will give you a chance to see how it works.
